Philadelphia (December 13, 2021) – The HEADstrong Lacrosse Club is excited to announce that Adam Bokmeyer has joined the organization as the General Manager of HEADstrong Austin. The newest program in the HEADstrong Lacrosse Club organization, HEADstrong Austin was founded and participated in its first events during the 2021 summer season.
“We are excited to welcome Adam to our HEADstrong family,” HEADstrong Vice President Michael Colleluori said. “We can’t wait to share Nick’s story, the HEADstrong mission and help impact lives in Texas all while growing the game of lacrosse there. Adam has extensive ties to HEADstrong all the way back to fundraising while in college and we think he is the perfect addition to make this club successful in that area.”
Bokmeyer joins HEADstrong Austin after spending three years in North Carolina rebuilding the program at St. Andrews University. The first season in 2020 was cut short due to COVID-19 but in 2021, SAU reached the conference semifinals, eventually losing to the national champions. The program continues with over 40 student-athletes recruited by Bokmeyer as he and his family moved back to Austin.
Prior to his tenure at SAU, Bokmeyer served as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at the University of Texas for the 2017 and 2018 seasons and helped lead them to 19 wins over two years. He coached the defense to a No. 2 ranking in the country and coached multiple All-Conference Defensive Players, Rookie of the Year, and an All-American.
Before Texas, he was the Program Director and Varsity Head Coach at Smithson Valley High School (TX) and was also the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at NCAA Division II Adams St. University (CO) from 2012-14. He got his coaching start in California working at two high schools in the mid-2000s and was also the head women’s lacrosse coach at Sonoma St. University (CA) in 2008-09. He then worked as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Chico St. University in California from 2010-12.
During his playing career, Bokmeyer was recruited as both an offensive and defensive midfielder for NCAA D-1 U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY and attended from 2004-06. He was an Academic All-American, All-Grossmont Conference, and County CIF attackman and midfielder in San Diego, graduating from Granite Hills High School in 2004.
He currently resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Katelyn, son and daughter. Bokmeyer received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Colorado St. University and a M.B.A. in Finance from Washington St. University.
