Avery Murphy

College: The Ohio State University/Cabrini University

Coaching Experience:

I am in my second year as the Assistant Coach at Alvernia University, and have coached with the Headstrong club team for 2 1/2 years.

Personal: Sports mean everything to me as I grew up playing soccer and lacrosse at the club level. My great grandfather was the Athletic Director at La Salle University for 30 years, Jim Henry. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Villanova University for his outstanding football career. He instilled a love of all sports in my family. I played lacrosse at both the Division I and III levels. All of my family members played sports in college as well. My mom played lacrosse at Penn State, and my dad played ice hockey at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where my sister is currently a member of the Women’s Lacrosse Program. My brother played soccer at La Salle University.

What does HEADstrong mean to you?

When I started coaching at Headstrong two and a half years ago, I didn’t realize how much fun it was going to be as a coach, as opposed to being a player. It’s great to see the young players having fun at practices, teaching them everything I have learned at the club and college level and seeing their progress. I also love helping them bring their competitive style to every practice and tournament. I really enjoy coaching at Headstrong!
